Julie McGregor is best known for her role as ‘Betty’ the red-haired, ditsy secretary in ‘Hey Dad!’ for which she won a Sammy in 1978 for Best New Talent and was nominated for Most Popular Comedy Performer at the 1992 Logie Awards. Other TV credits include ‘The Naked Vicar Show‘, A Country Practice’ and ‘Sons and Daughters’. Julie’s Films credits include ‘Anna’ in Backroads (directed by Phil Noyce) and ‘Kate’ in ‘Palm Beach’ (directed by Albie Thoms). Julie’s theatre credits include: ‘Rona’ in Kennedy’s Children at the MTC, ‘Phoebe’ in ‘As You Like It’ and the one woman show ‘Potiphar’s Wife’ by Margot Hilton both at Belvoir. In 1982 Julie won Best Actress as 'Adele' in Big River for the Hunter Valley Theatre. Julie’s musical work includes: Magenta in Jim Sharman’s production of The Rocky Horror Show, and Louise Seger in the national tour of the musical Always Patsy Cline with Deborah Conway (for which she won the Green Room Award for Best Actress). She also founded and wrote the musical arrangements for The Madrigirls – an acapella group who performed at Belvoir and Sydney Opera House. In 2022 Julie toured Australia as Maggie in ‘Mother and Son’.
